COUNCIL MINUTES <br />MAY 27, 2019 _911- CITY OF KITCHENER <br />maintenance service of all sidewalks is approximately an additional $200,000 for 40 km of sidewalk per <br />winter season. <br />In response to questions, Ms. Roslyn Lusk, Director of Operations - Roads and Traffic, advised the <br />initial clearing for 8cm snow events would be contracted services and the full winter maintenance <br />service of all sidewalks would be achieved with in-house resources. <br />An amendment was brought forward by Councillor S. Davey, seconded by B. Ioannidis, that paragraphs <br />2 and 7 of the staff recommendation outlined in Clause 10 of the Community and Infrastructure Services <br />Committee report, dated May 13, 2019, be deferred until May, 2020; and, that staff be directed to <br />research and conduct a statistically significant survey in other municipalities that already offer sidewalk <br />snow clearing in order to determine the value and level of service; and, the that Kitchener Municipal <br />Innovation Lab directed to explore a pilot application connecting residents in need of snow clearing to <br />residents willing to assist. <br />Councillor P. Singh brought forward a further amendment, seconded by Councillor D. Schnider, to <br />include maintenance support and suitable reimbursement to the participants of the neighbourhood <br />shared snow blower pilot for the snow blower's operating fuel cost; and, to consider the feasibility of <br />requiring the participants of the neighbourhood shared snow blower pilot to participate in the assisted <br />services for sidewalk and windrow clearing pilot. <br />A motion was brought forward by Councillor K. Galloway-Sealock, seconded by Councillor S. Davey, <br />that the question now be put related to Clause 10 of the Community and Infrastructure Services <br />Committee report. The motion was then voted on and Carried. <br />Councillor J.
