SUBJECT:
ARENA STAFFING
RECOMMENDATION
:
That a Community Arena Supervisor position be approved as an addition to the
permanent full time staff complement.
BACKGROUND:
In August 2009 the City purchased the Sportsworld Twin Pad facility taking over the day to day
operation of the facility. At the time of the purchase, a supervisory position was approved on a
temporary basis in order to allow time to assess the longer term staffing requirements of the
facility. Operating funding for the position came from the new revenues generated from the new
ice inventory.
REPORT:
The City operates three single pad facilities, two twin pad facilities, a floor facility and one
outdoor artificial ice surface at Civic Square. To manage and supervise this portfolio of facilities
and ensure we can provide facilities that are safe and meet customer expectations two
supervisory positions are necessary.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
No additional funding is required. The position will be funded from new revenues generated
from ice rentals.
