Media Handbook: no update.

ACAC wants to ask formally about status of Media Handbook
o
Gabriella Clermont (MNTF) had said that she would provide her media list of contacts
o
for the arts community. List is in progress, she will share it when complete. Not sure
how to share it with the arts community.
Challenge: Lists are being created for specific purposes, so lists reflect individual
o
project’s purposes. City must be cautious that by making the list created by another
party available to the public, we are not inadvertently endorsing certain
organizations and excluding others

Brainstorming about Purpose:
?
Provide public with an update on CPII recommendations?
o
Is ACAC responsible for reporting to community on CulturePlan II recommendations?
o
Or can this be a broader celebration of accomplishments in the arts?
ACAC’s Terms of Reference states that ACAC undertakes ‘information sharing on arts
o
and culture issues throughout the community’.
Brainstorming about Format:
?
Provide CPII update; could update CPII brochure
o
Magnetic North could provide recap
o
Have a multicultural focus: could invite newcomer artists and WRIEN; could use it as
o
a networking session?; could include a theatre performance by multicultural group
Include Artist in Residence program
o
Include City’s arts programming for youth (contest for Student Video on Cube, could
o
show video); could invite high school students to describe their experiences with the
City’s programs
Include ACAC’s accomplishments over the past 18 months: Show how ACAC has
o
connected with the media
Susan Cudahy could speak on WRTMC activities
o
Include testimonials; they are meaningful
o
Do an “Arts Year in Review”: a variety of participants; message is good news from
o
2010 re: accomplishments. Open it to the Museum; the Symphony…
Do we want to gather input at this meeting?
o
Subcommittee struck to undertake planning: Julie Robbescheuten, Ann MacKenzie-Martino,
?
Helena Redshaw, Cheryl York
ACTION: staff to send email to ACAC to invite participation on the subcommittee
ACTION: subcommittee to meet prior to May ACAC meeting to consider possible topics to include in
report to public
