EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - CHERRY PARK
NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association for their Cherry Festival on July 10, 2010 between
the hours of 11 AM and 6 PM.
BACKGROUND:
As part of its community building strategy, the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association is again
th
hosting their annual Cherry Festival on July 10. This year’s event will include a live band
playing outside. As such, the Association wishes to apply for an exemption to the City’s Noise
By-law.
REPORT:
This festival was held during a similar time period last year and the By-law Enforcement office is
not aware of any noise complaints being registered. The event organizers are ensuring that the
entire neighbourhood is invited and well aware, in advance, of the event.

None identified at this time.

CONCLUSION:
Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, the By-law Enforcement Division does not
object to this request for an exemption.
