SUBJECT: Letter of Interest - LOI-10-033 - Prequalification of Building
Automation Systems
RECOMMENDATION:
That Letter of Interest LOI-10-033, Prequalification of Building Automation Systems, be awarded
to T.A.C. Controls & Automation Inc., Concord, Ontario and Optimira Controls, Inc.,
Mississauga, Ontario for City of Kitchener building automation system projects.
BACKGROUND:
On March 8th, 2010, City Council approved the prequalification process for the selection of
Building Automation Systems, FIN 10-030.
REPORT:
A Review Committee was established consisting of M. Petricevic, Manager Projects/Energy
Management, P. Christner, Building Operator, D. Murray, Manager Client Services, and L.
Gordon Director of Supply Services. Letters of Interest were advertised in The Record, on the
City of Kitchener Home Page and on the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Association
Electronic Tendering Information System relative to this project. Documents were downloaded
by nineteen (19) interested parties, and by the closing date of Wednesday March 31St, 2010, five
(5) responses had been received.
The Review Committee selected a shortlist of four (4) companies for interviews. The Committee
met on Thursday May 13th to interview the shortlisted candidates. The committee elected to
prequalify T.A.C. Controls & Automation Inc., Concord, Ontario and Optimira Controls, Inc.,
Mississauga, Ontario for City of Kitchener building automation system projects.
