SUBJECT: Declare Lands Surplus on Chandler Drive
RECOMMENDATION:
"That the lands located on Chandler Drive, in the City of Kitchener, owned by the
Corporation of the City of Kitchener, described as Part Lots 5, 7, and 8 Plan 1021, Part 3
Plan 58EX193 lying between Chandler Drive and Conestoga Parkway, and as in
Instrument No. 557525 & 386655, Except Part 1, Plan 58R-2420, City of Kitchener,
Regional Municipality of Waterloo; and the triangular parcel of land located on the south
side of Chandler Drive as shown on the map attached to Chief Administrator's Office
report CAO-10-031, and to be further described on a Reference Plan to be prepared in the
future, be declared surplus to the City's needs for the purposes of the sale of the land to
the Regional Municipality of Waterloo."
REPORT:
In March of 2004 the City of Kitchener acknowledged an Intent to Purchase Land request
submitted by the Region of Waterloo for three parcels of City owned land along Chandler Drive.
The total combined acerage of the three parcels is approximately 6.2 acres.
The land is adjacent to the Region's Transit facilities and the acquisition of the three parcels will
accommodate their expansion needs.
As a result of the construction of the Consolidated Maintenance Facility the subject properties
are no longer required by the City.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Negotiations are currently underway with the Region of Waterloo for the sale of these
properties. Proceeds from this landsale will go towards the funding of the Consolidated
Maintenance Facility.
