Gosse, Director of Legislated Services/City Clerk PREPARED BY: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing WARD(S) INVOLVED: 1 DATE OF REPORT: October 29, 2010 REPORT NO.: CRPS-10-169 SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR VARIOUS EVENTS ON CIVIC SQUARE AND/OR ROTUNDA DURING 2010 RECOMMENDATION: That the request for the sale of food and/or merchandise on Civic Square or in the Rotunda during various events being conducted from November 16, 2010 to January 31, 2011 be approved, provided the necessary licences are obtained, including Health and Fire approval. BACKGROUND: City of Kitchener Council policy requires Council’s approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales to take place on City property. REPORT: With the goal of creating urban vitality and specifically programming year round activity on the Civic Square and the Rotunda, the Community Services Department is requesting blanket approval for any events that may sell food and/or merchandise where a licence may be required from November 16, 2010 to January 31, 2011.
