MASJID, 1017 VICTORIA STREET NORTH
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
The Kitchener Masjid at 1017 Victoria Street North for their Eid Carnival on November 16, 2010,
between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M..
BACKGROUND:
The Kitchener Masjid will be holding their Eid Carnival on November 16th, in recognition of their
religious Eid al-Adha holiday. The Carnival will take place for only during the day time between
10 AM and 6 PM.
REPORT:
The Carnival will take place indoors, however there is a need to place 1-2 gas powered
generators outside, used to power the kids bouncy castles which are located in-doors.
The Masjid held a similar event early this summer. There is a record of 1 concern raised, with
regard the actual location of the generators. Staff will be discussing this with representatives of
the Masjid, in order to minimize any impact there may be.
