(Hayward Avenue to Manitou Drive)
RECOMMENDATION:
That Expression of Interest E10-097, Consultant Services -Schneider Creek Remediation
(Hayward Avenue to Manitou Drive), be awarded to Aecom Canada Ltd., Kitchener, Ontario at
their estimated fee of $285,044., plus H.S.T. of $37,055.72, for a total of $322,099.72, based on
a satisfactory contract being negotiated and an upset fee being established, and further that the
Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement satisfactory to the City Solicitor.
BACKGROUND:
Schneider Creek, a subwatershed of the Grand River, is an integral part of the stormwater
drainage in the City of Kitchener. Schneider Creek has been impacted considerably from
encroachment, stream alteration, unmitigated stormwater inputs and stream channelization. In
1995, the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) initiated a Class Environmental
Assessment to determine the preferred solution to the flooding and erosion problems on
Schneider Creek between Hayward Avenue and Manitou Drive, within the City of Kitchener.
The design alternatives were developed on a reach-by reach basis.
The extents of the three study reaches are:
• Reach 1 from Hayward Avenue to Budd Spurline
• Reach 2 the triple crossing of the Spurline
• Reach 3 from Spurline to Manitou Drive
The scope of the project is to complete an addendum to the existing Class Environmental
Assessment, pre-design and design of the recommended alternatives and contract
administration.
