An Introduction to Neighbourhood Policing
The Neighbourhood Policing Model calls for the design of police patrol zones to be based on calls for
service from the community and for front line officers to be deployed based on peak times of service.
Through the results of in -depth data collection and analysis, Waterloo Regional Police will launch
Neighbourhood Policing on January 11, 2011.
Neighbourhood Policing is designed with the following goals in mind:
• To measure the needs of our community and staff our neighbourhoods accordingly
• To be able to measure where our community grows /changes and where
resources are needed
• To measure and show results for our actions
• To enhance the amount of time allotted to proactive time
• To provide an equal level of Service to all areas of the community
• To customize our Service to meet specific neighbourhood needs
• To provide an operational foundation of our service delivery
