RECOMMENDATION:
“That the application of Stephen & Susan Perrin (FN 2011-001 – 29 Perkell Place) requesting
permission to alter an existing wooden privacy fence located in the front yard, such that the first
section of the fence, starting at the front wall of the house, will have a height of 1.524 m (5’) to
the top of the post plus a fence post cap, the middle section to the fence will have a height of
1.21 m (4’) to the top of the post plus a fence post cap and the third portion of the fence closest
to the street, will have a height of .9144 m (3’) to the top of the post plus a fence post cap, rather
than the permitted height of 0.9 m (2.95’), on Lot 67, Plan 841, 29 Perkell Place, Kitchener

REPORT:
The Committee of Adjustment met as a standing committee of City Council on Tuesday
February 15, 2011, to consider four applications: one pursuant to Chapter 630 (FENCES) and
three pursuant to Chapter 680 (SIGNS), of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code.
These recommendations are being forwarded to you on behalf of the Committee of Adjustment
for your consideration.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
Respecting Sign By-law and Fence By-law variances, the Committee of Adjustment operates as
a standing committee of City Council, and as such represents efficient and effective
government.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
As directed by the Sign and Fence By-laws, a notice of applications is published in the Record
15 - 18 days prior to the Committee of Adjustment meeting at which the applications will be
considered. Notice of applications is also mailed to property owners within 30m of the subject
property.
