REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO SELL REFRESHMENTS
– PROBATION OFFICERS ASSOC. OF ONTARIO – MAY 5,
2011 – SPEAKERS CORNERS – KING AND BENTON
STREETS
RECOMMENDATION:
That the request of the Probation Officers Association of Ontario to sell refreshments at
Speaker’s Corner, corner of King and Benton Streets on May 5, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. be approved, provided the necessary licence, including Health approval, is
obtained.
BACKGROUND:
Council Policy requires Council approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales of
refreshments to take place on City property.
REPORT:
A request has been received from Paulette Lewis, Probation Officers Association of Ontario
requesting permission to hold a barbecue on May 5, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at
Speaker’s Corner, corner of King and Benton Streets.
All proceeds raised will be directed to the WAYVE Program (Working Against Youth Violence
Everywhere) which is a youth violence prevention program based out of Kitchener and
operating in some of the K-W Elementary and High Schools.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
Community Priority – Dynamic Downtown
To allow various organizations in the downtown to make themselves visible to the customers in
the downtown.
