Gosse, Director of Legislated Services/City Clerk, 2809 PREPARED BY: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing, 2854 WARD(S) INVOLVED: 9 DATE OF REPORT: April 26, 2011 REPORT NO.: FCS-11-095 SUBJECT: REQUEST TO SELL REFRESHMENTS – CHERRY PARK NEIGHBOURHOOL ASSOCIATION – 84 STRANGE STREET – JULY 9, 2011 RECOMMENDATION: That the request of the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association to sell refreshments and arts and crafts at Cherry Park, 84 Strange Street on July 9, 2011 be approved, provided the necessary licence, including Health approval is obtained; and That the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association be granted an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code in conjunction with an event at 84 Strange Street on July 9, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. BACKGROUND: Council Policy requires Council’s approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales of refreshments and merchandise on City property. REPORT: A request has been received from Heidy Garcia, Event Coordinator requesting permission on behalf of the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association to sell refreshments and crafts at the Cherry Festival to be held at Cherry Park, 84 Strange Street on July 9, 2011. Proceeds raised will be used to help offset the costs of the event and for expanding it in the future. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Community Priority – Quality of Life The City wants to encourage and support the many special events that neighbourhood associations and community centres provide to make Kitchener an exciting and vibrant city to live in and raise a family.
