Report CSD-11-036 recommended numerous housekeeping changes to the existing Sign By-law that would be consolidated and incorporated rota a new Sign By-law. The PSI Committee recommended adoption of the by-law attached to Report CSD-11-036 with two revisions. The first revision is to maintain the existing percentage of coverage of a window sign at 50% instead of reducing the percentage of coverage. The second revision is to change the minimum distance separation between video projection signs to 100 metres. The by-law has been revised accordingly. In addition to highlighting the revisions, this report provides clarification on two aspects related to the new sign by-law so that the intent is clear. REPORT: The intent is to have the same fee for Banner and Inflatable Signs as the fee for Portable Signs. The fee for Portable Signs is scheduled to increase from $70.00 to $71.00 on July 1St, 2011 but this was not noted in Report CSD-11-036. Recommendation C clarifies that the fee for Banner and Inflatable Signs would increase to $71.00 on July 15t, 2011. FBNANCIAL IMPLICATIONS The new fees and enhanced enforcement are expected to have a positive impact ®n revenues. Bylaw Enforcement workload impacts will be examined as part of a broader service level review that will be presented to Council at a later date. COMMl1NITY ENGAGEMENT: As noted in CSD 11-036. CONCLlJS1ON: The proposed. sign by-law changes will clarify existing regulations and also provide more flexibility for sign options to the business community and continue to allow for active enforcement of the signs that do not comply with the by-law.
