BACKGROUND: Conestoga Students Inc. (CSI), the students' union at Conestoga College, is planning to hold an outdoor concert at the College on the evening of Saturday September 17t". As such, they have requested an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise). REPORT: CSI held this event last year, with the appropriate noise exemption. A plan was put in place last year, which saw City staff work with CSI on ways to mitigate any impact on the residential area. These discussions included the placement of the stage and sound testing, where applicable. In addition, By-law Enforcement staff were on site and in the neighbourhood during the event to monitor noise levels and address any concerns with the event organizers. Staff advise that they have no record of any complaints received during last year's concert. This year, By-law Enforcement staff will be working with CSI staff to implement a plan similar to last year, including having a By-law Enforcement Officer on-site and in the neighbourhood during the event. CSI will be ensuring that the residents in the area are notified prior to the event.
