BACKGROUND: Engineering Services is proceeding with the reconstruction of Morrison Road from 120 meters North of Quinte Crescent to Sims Estate Drive. Funds for construction have been allocated from the City's share of subdivision account. The reconstruction will include the installation of a new storm sewer, road upgrades, new curb and gutter and new sidewalk, thus bringing the road up to a current urban cross section. The storm sewer will be reconstructed to meet current design standards and service expectations. The design and tender documents where prepared by MTE Consultants Inc., and reviewed and approved by City staff. The construction administration will be completed by City staff and the inspection of this project will be completed by MTE Consultants. Funding for the project is split 50% with the developer and 50% with the City of Kitchener as a requirement of the Section 41 Site Plan development agreement. The project is scheduled to begin September 6, 2011, weather permitting, and is located within the Ward 2 boundary. REPORT: Tenders were advertised publicly in The Record, the Daily Commercial News, on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Ten (10) potential bidders picked up tender documents, and by the closing date of Thursday August 4th, 2011, five (5) tenders had been received. Guelph ON $534,060.10 E & E Seegmiller Limited Kitchener ON $586,632.44 Sousa Concrete Branchton ON $595,095.57 Elgin Construction St Thomas ON $597,998.42 The tenders were reviewed by C. Spere, MTE Consultants Inc., the City's Consultants for the project, and L. Cooper, Supervisor, Development Client Services, who concur with the above recommendation.
