(SG 2011-013 – 50 Ottawa Street South) requesting permission to erect a ground supported sign at the corner of Charles Street and Ottawa Street South, having a height of 8.37m (27.46‘) rather than the permitted 7.5m (24.61‘), on Lots 1-11, Plan 262, Part Lot 486, Streets & Lanes and Part Park Lot 25, Plan 404, being BE Parts 2-5 & 7, Reference Plan 58R-2633, 50 Ottawa Street South Kitchener, Ontario, APPROVED , subject to the following condition: 1. That the owner shall apply for and receive approval of a sign permit from the City of Kitchener for the proposed sign. 2. That the owner of 50 Ottawa Street South shall remove the ground supported sign, at his/her cost, when notified by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo that they are proceeding with Rapid Transit in front of the subject property.” REPORT: The Committee of Adjustment met as a Standing Committee of City Council on Tuesday September 20, 2011, to consider an application pursuant to Chapter 680 (SIGNS), of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code. This recommendation is being forwarded to you on behalf of the Committee of Adjustment for your consideration. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Respecting Sign By-law and Fence By-law variances, the Committee of Adjustment operates as a Standing Committee of City Council, and as such represents efficient and effective government. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None î ó ï COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: As directed by the Sign By-law and Fence By-Law, notice of Applications for Variance to the Sign By-law are published in the Record 15 - 18 days prior to the Committee of Adjustment meeting at which the application will be considered.
