BACKGROUND: The Food Basics store at 1405 Ottawa Street North is undertaking some necessary work to replace in-store refridgeration units. This work will involve loading and unloading equipment off of trucks and in and out of the rear of the store, during the evening hours. There are residential properties, on Ebydale Crescent, adjacent to the rear of the store. As such, the store is requesting an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) to facilitate this work. REPORT: The store manager advises that the work will take place approximately 5 nights between October 17 and November 9, 2011. The dates as projected right now are October 17tH 24tH 31St, and November 7t" and 9t". The hours of work are projected to be 9PM to midnight, each evening. The nature of the work requires that it be done when the store is closed. Given that the first night of work corresponds with the meeting date of the Community and Infrastructure Services Committee, the store's contractor will make adjustments to their operations for the 1 evening to minimize any noise impacts. Food Basics staff also advise that the actual replacement work will occur inside of the store. However, it will require equipment to be loaded off of and onto trucks parked along the rear of the plaza. Food Basics will be delivering information to those residential properties most adjacent to the rear of the store, advising of the work in advance of the start date. 1- 1 S~a~F Re opt ~ITCH~I`rTE~ ~O111munrtyServi[eSDepQr~men~ www.kitthenerca ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Approval of a noise exemption for this event supports the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as contained in the City's Strategic Plan.
