BACKGROUND: Transportation Planning has received a request to review the existing on-street parking regulations on Pioneer Drive. The request cited potential vehicle conflicts with access tolfrom residential driveways attributable to parked vehicles along the west side of Pioneer Drive from Perin Place to the property line between the Blessed Kateri Catholic School and house number 540 and that a no stopping prohibition be implemented. REPORT: At the present time, on-street parking is permitted on the west side of Pioneer Drive from Perin Place to the property line between the Blessed Kateri Catholic School and house number 540 for a maximum period of three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-law No. 2007-138. In an effort to prevent parents from parking while their children are dropped-offlpicked-up, it has been determined that a "No Stopping" area on the west side of Pioneer Drive from Perin Place to the property line between the Blessed Kateri Catholic School and house number 540, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. would be the most appropriate regulation to address these issues. The "No Stopping" area will be added to the selected school enforcement route that by-law enforcement officers conduct throughout the school year. Providing a "No Stopping" area along Pioneer Drive will allow for safer two-way traffic flow. The proposed stopping regulation will also provide an unobstructed view while residents are enteringlexiting their driveways. 3-1 1 Staff Re ort p Krr~.~-~~,i~iER ~nfrastru~ture Servrces Department www.kitthenerta ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: This initiative falls under the Community Priority of Quality of Life.
