REPORT: The Compass Kitchener Advisory Committee validates the Compass Kitchener Vision (2000), Guiding Principles, Values, and Strategic Priorities on a regular basis, with the community’s input and participation. This Committee creates and leads public processes to determine community concerns, to identify priorities for action, and to monitor progress toward achieving the community vision. The community priorities comprise an integral component of the City of Kitchener Strategic Plan. Over the last two months, Compass Kitchener has endeavoured to fill several vacant positions, with a goal to round out the committee to more broadly represent the community and bring skills and interests to the table in support of this group’s mandate. Potential new members attended the November 2011 meeting, shared their skills, knowledge and experience in community engagement, research and evaluation, and subsequently confirmed their interest in appointment to the Committee. Staff are seeking Council’s approval to appoint Sue Morgan, Chris Kopar, Diana Bumstead and David Yoon to the Compass Kitchener Advisory Committee.
