BACKGROUND: Wabanaki Drive bridge is located east of Manitou Drive on Wabanaki Drive and crosses Schneider Creek. It was constructed in 1978 and has a reinforced concrete deck and precast concrete I-beam girder with an asphalt wearing surface. Past inspection reports and bridge deck condition survey indicated that some elements are in fair to poor condition and require major rehabilitation. To maintain the structure in safe operating condition and to avoid further escalated deterioration major rehabilitation is required. The project scope includes repair of bridge deck, repair/replacement of barrier wall as per bridge design code requirements, channel clean out to restore flow capacity and gabion baskets repair. The asphalt wearing surface, sidewalk, curb and gutter and approaches will repaired as well. If feasible and cost effective, existing abutments will be converted to semi-integral detail. A consultant is required to complete the design and provide construction administration and inspection services. The design is to be completed before summer 2012 and construction is expected to occur in July-August 2012.
