BACKGROUND: At a recent BIA meeting for Belmont Village, a number of businesses had requested a review of the existing on-street parking regulations (i.e time limits) in the Belmont Village. The survey results are as follows: In favour of implementing two (2) hour parking time limit throughout the Belmont Village: 16 (84%) In favour of leaving the current regulation as is: 3 (16%) TOTAL 19 out of 91- (21 % responded) As indicated above, of the 19 responding businesses and residents, 16 (84%), are in favour of the proposal to implement a two (2) hour parking time limit in Belmont Village. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: This initiative falls under the Community Priority of Quality of Life. "Work with partners, including all orders of government, to create a culture of safety in our community." By working with the neighbourhood, on-street parking concerns have been addressed. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for sign installation for the roadway is $900 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNICATIONS: In December 2011, affected residents and businesses along Belmont Avenue West between Union Boulevard and Glasgow Street were surveyed regarding the proposed parking changes. The BIA of Belmont Village have been informed of the results and endorse the proposal.
