SUBJECT: T12-020 -Ready Mix Concrete
RECOMMENDATION:
That Tender T12-020 -Ready Mix Concrete, be awarded to TriCity Readymix, Kitchener,
Ontario, at their tendered price of $336,896.25, plus H.S.T. of $43,796.51, for a total of
$380,692.76, with an option to renew for two (2) additional twelve (12) month terms.
BACKGROUND:
This tender is based on fixed unit prices on an estimated representative sampling of concrete
materials used in the previous year and actual spend will depend on the level of construction
activity throughout the term of the contract.
Ready Mix Concrete is an on-going maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) requirement of
the Operations Division.
The estimated average annual spend over the past four (4) years was $227,035.66
REPORT:
Tenders were advertised publicly in The Record, on the City of Kitchener website and the
Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System.
Documents were downloaded by nine (9) interested parties, and by the closing date of Thursday
March 15t", 2012, seven (7) tenders had been received.
Tenders were reviewed by C. Heise, Supervisor, Concrete Curb & Winter Maintenance, who
elected to award the project to TriCity Readymix, Kitchener, Ontario.

The City of Kitchener's purchasing policies and practices ensure openness, fairness and
transparency in the procurement of goods and services.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funding will be provided from various operating accounts as required.
HST may be charged on all or part of the contract amount, although the exact impact is not
determinable at this time. The project manager has confirmed that sufficient contingency exists
within the project budget to fund the cost of the non-rebatable portion of the HST should it
become applicable to this contract.
