SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST - SLO-PITCH
TOURNAMENT -PETER HALLMAN BALLYARDS
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to Mo Elash of Mo Music for an outdoor concert to be held in conjunction with a
Slo-Pitch Baseball Tournament being held at the Peter Hallman Ballyards on Saturday
May 5, 2012, between the hours of 12:00 PM and 11:00 PM and Sunday May 6, 2012,
between the hours of 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
BACKGROUND:
Mo Music is organizing a free outdoor concert to be held in conjunction with a Slo-Pitch
Tournament at Peter Hallman Ballyards on Saturday May 5 and Sunday May 6, 2012. The
purpose of the concert is to provide entertainment for the tournament participants. The music
from the concert has the potential to be heard in the adjacent residential area. As such, the
event organizers have requested an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise).
REPORT:
This is the first time this particular event has been held at this location. Thus, it is difficult to
gauge the potential impact of the noise generated from the event. Having said this, the event
organizer has indicated a willingness to work with City staff with regard to the placement of the
stage and speakers to minimize the potential impact on any adjacent residential area.
In addition, the organizer has provided an on-site contact for staff to communicate with during
the event, to address potential concerns that may be raised.

ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in the City's Strategic Plan.
