DATE OF REPORT: August 2, 2012
REPORT NO.: CSD-12-119
SUBJECT:
EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) –
WILLIAMSBURG COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to RBJ Schlegel Holdings for their Williamsburg Community Festival 2012 on
September 9, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
BACKGROUND:
RBJ Schlegel Holdings will be holding their annual community festival 1187 Fischer Hallman
Road on September 9th. They are once again requesting an exemption from Chapter 450
(Noise).
REPORT:
This community festival has been held for approximately 5 years previously. Staff do not recall
any significant complaints being registered over the past years. Having said this, there was a
complaint received last year relating to a single event, the Monster Truck display, which is not
being held as part of this year’s festival. With the exclusion of this event, staff do not anticipate
any significant concerns.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in the City’s Strategic Plan.
