SUBJECT:T12-067 – Corporate Work Clothing Program
RECOMMENDATION:

That Tender T12-067 - Corporate Work Clothing Program, be awarded to
Work Wearhouse Kitchener, Ontario,
, at their tendered price of $74,816.88, plus H.S.T. of
$9,726.19, for a total of $84,543.07, with an option to renew for two (2) additional twelve (12)
month terms.
BACKGROUND:
The collective agreement between the Corporation and the Kitchener Civic Employee’s Union,
CUPE Local #68, provides for the issue of uniforms to employees who are covered by this
agreement. The uniforms must be worn by employees while on duty. Styles are appropriate to
the work location but most commonly include navy blue work wear that is branded with an
identifiable City crest, as well as the orange-coloured safety clothing that is typically worn when
working on roadways.
The estimated average annual spend over the past three (3) years was $89,406.85. This is
based on the historical average not included in this tender. Kitchener Utilities is included in this
historic average, but was not included in the estimated tender quantities to arrive at the
tendered price above. They will be participating in this corporate work clothing program with an
estimated additional spend per year of approximately $20,000.00.
REPORT:
This Tender was advertised publicly on the Internet through the City of Kitchener website and
the Ontario Public Buyers Associations, Electronic Tendering Information System. Documents
were downloaded by fifteen (15) interested parties, and by the closing date of Thursday October
25, 2012, one (1) tender had been received.
