APPOINTMENTS TO CENTRE IN THE SQUARE BOARD
That Tim Jackson and David Strucke be re-appointed to the Board of the Centre-in-the-
Square for a term ending December 31, 2013.
BACKGROUND:
Every year council makes its appointments to various boards and committees. Appointments for
2013 were made on November 19, 2012, however; a request from the Centre-in-the-Square
(CITS) Board to re-appoint Tim Jackson and David Strucke was received after the appointment
meeting.
REPORT:
In addition to the usual advertisements to solicit applications from citizens to sit on the City's
boards/committees, the CITS Board may undertake its own search for 2 citizen appointments
that would fill specific needs such as fund raising. On November 19th council made 2
appointments to the CITS board through the usual process and now, the Board is requesting
council's ratification of the last 2 appointments. The Board is requesting that 2 current members
be re-appointed for 1 year. Under the legislation governing the CITS Board, council may extend
the term of current board members.

Jeff,
The Centre In The Square {CITS}, during their Board Meeting on 31 October 2012, passed a
motion to recommend to the City of Kitchener Council, fhe extension of Tim Jackson's term on
the Board of Directors.
In addition, David Strucke's term ends as of 31 December 2012. It was also recommended that
David's term also be extended for one furlher year.
This letter is to request that the City of Kitchener Council consider our request to extend the terms
of both Tim Jackson and David Strucke by one year, with a new terminating date of 31
December 2013. While CITS undergoes a strategic planning process, I feel that stability and
continuity on the CITS Board will help with the successful implementation of a new strategic plan
and help identify the next stages of recruitment for board appointments in 2014.
I have attached the minutes from 31 October 2012.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further details.
