BACKGROUND: All fleet vehicles are rust sprayed annually to ensure they are free from corrosion. This ongoing maintenance keeps the vehicles body, undercarriage and mechanical components in good working order. This rust control service allows our vehicles to reach the intended life cycles, and in most cases, go beyond. REPORT: This Quotation was advertised publicly on the City of Kitchener website. Documents were nd downloaded by eight (8) interested parties, and by the closing date of Tuesday October 2, 2012, three (3) quotes had been received. Quotations were reviewed by M. Born, Manager of Fleet, who concurs with the above recommendation. The following quotations were received: Bid Price Great Canadian Auto Care Centre Kitchener ON $ 42,779.54 Krown Rust Control Kitchener ON $ 52,900.95 * Dynomite Auto Detailing Inc. Waterloo ON $ 75,551.80 The lowest bid submitted by Great Canadian Auto Care Centre did not meet the specification of providing a non-hazardous product. A non-hazardous product is required as vehicles are ï ··÷ ó ï sprayed indoors at the Kitchener Operations Facility. The product does not contain a tacifier agent which allows the spray formula to cling to the vehicle, providing protection until the next application. The City of Kitchener’s purchasing policies and practices ensure openness, fairness and transparency in the procurement of goods and services. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding for this activity is included in the Fleet budget. All Fleet costs are charged to City departments through equipment charges, so all City departments cover the costs of this activity within existing budgets.
