SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES
CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:55 a.m. this date and Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all
members present except Councillor K. Taylor-Harrison.
Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk
pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
Council considered a recommendation arising from the Finance and Administration Committee meeting
of this date concerning a licence fee reduction for the annual "Seedy Saturday" event sponsored by
Doon Heritage Crossroads.
Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler
Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
"That the City of Kitchener grant the request of Doon Heritage Crossroads to reduce the
required licence fee to $10 for a show referred to as 'Seedy Saturday' to be held on Saturday,
February 20, 1999."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler
Seconded by Councillor M. Yantzi
"That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following recess of this special
meeting to consider three matters subject to solicitor-client privilege."
Carried.
The meeting then recessed at 11:56 a.m. and reconvened at 1:40 p.m. with the following members
present: Mayor C. Zehr, Councillors J. Haalboom, C. Weylie, B. Vrbanovic, G. Lorentz, John Smola,
J. Ziegler, T. Galloway and M. Yantzi.
Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler
Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
"That the City accept the conditional offer dated February 8, 1999, from Charles Brohman,
Marinus de Groot and John MacDonald, (In Trust, for an Ontario Corporation to be formed), to
purchase the property known municipally as 22-46 King Street West, Kitchener, for the sum of
$200,000; and further,
That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute any documentation in this regard required
by the City Solicitor."
Carried Unanimously by those members of Council present.
Moved by Councillor J. Haalboom
Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and
proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times,
be finally passed and numbered 99-22 by the Clerk."
Carried.
On motion the meeting adjourned at 1:45 p.m.
