HomeMy WebLinkAboutFCS-13-037 - 2012 Statement of Remuneration & Expenses REPORT TO:Council DATE OF MEETING: March 25, 2013 SUBMITTED BY: Dan Chapman, DCAO, Finance and Corporate Services PREPARED BY: Cindy Roberts, Supervisor of Accounting, x7659 Brenda Johnson, Director of Accounting x 7647 WARD(S) INVOLVED: ALL DATE OF REPORT: March 19, 2013 REPORT NO.: FCS-13-037 SUBJECT: 2012 STATEMENT OF REMUNERATION AND EXPENSES RECOMMENDATION: For information BACKGROUND: Section 284(1) of the Municipal Act provides that the treasurer of a municipality shall, in each year on or before March 31, provide to the council of the municipality an itemized statement on remuneration and expenses paid in the previous year to: (a) each member of council in respect of his or her services as a member of the council or any other body, including a local board, to which the member has been appointed by council or on which the member holds office by virtue of being a member of council; (b) each member of council in respect of his or her services as an officer or employee of the municipality or other body described in clause (a); and (c) each person, other than a member of council, appointed by the municipality to serve as a member of any body, including a local board, in respect of his or her services as a member of the body. REPORT: The detailed Statement of Remuneration and Expenses for the year 2012 is attached to this report. The by-laws under which the remuneration or expenses were authorized to be paid are 2010-013 and 2007-129. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Efficient and Effective Government is one of the foundations of the Strategic Plan. Openness and transparency of city finances is a key strategic direction of Financial Management which supports the goal of long term financial stability and fiscal accountability to our taxpayers.
