HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Minutes - 2000-05-15 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 15, 2000 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:15 a.m. this date, Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr and with all members present. Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Council was in receipt of a memorandum from J. Shivas, City Solicitor, dated May 12, 2000, recommending execution of a Quit Claim Deed relative to 400 Breithaupt Street. Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler "That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute a Quit Claim Deed releasing all of the City's interests as set out in an easement registered as Instrument No. A-31900 and renewed by Instrument No. 1444352 respecting the properties described as Lots 18 through 23 according to Plan 82, municipally known as 388, 392, 396, 400, 404 and 408 Breithaupt Street." Carried. Council was in receipt of a memorandum from L. MacDonald, Assistant City Solicitor, dated May 12, 2000, recommending ratification of an agreement with respect to borehole testing at 399 King Street West. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler "That Council ratify and confirm C.A.O. John Gazzola's authority to sign, on behalf of The Corporation of the City of Kitchener, an agreement with Ziggy Martuzalski, dated May 10, 2000, permitting borehole testing to be conducted on May 11, 2000, on City property, municipally known as 399 King Street West, being a parkette at the corner of Francis Street and King Street West." Carried. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor M. Yantzi "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to consider a personal matter, a land acquisition matter and five matters subject to solicitor- client privilege." Carried. Moved by Councillor K. Taylor-Harrison Seconded by Councillor M. Yantzi "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2000 -77 by the Clerk." Carried. On motion, the meeting adjourned at 11:20 a.m. MAYOR CLERK
