SEPTEMBER 11, 2000
CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:13 a.m. this date and Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all
members present except Councillor Jake Smola.
Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk
pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
Council considered a recommendation arising from the Finance and Administration Committee meeting
of this date concerning Committee of Adjustment Submission No. SG 2000-008.
Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler
Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
"That Council ratify and confirm the August 15, 2000 decision of the Committee of Adjustment
recommending approval of Submission No. SG 2000-008 - McDonald's Restaurants (715
Ottawa Street South at Alpine Road)."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler
"That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting
to consider two labour relations matters, a personal matter, a land acquisition matter and four
matters subject to solicitor-client privilege."
Carried.
On motion, the meeting recessed at 11:15 a.m. and re-convened at 4:00 p.m. Chaired by Mayor C.
Zehr with all members present except Councillor Jake Smola.
A recommendation from the Planning and Economic Development Committee meeting of this date
dealing with a demolition application was considered.
Moved by Councillor C. Weylie
Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
"That Demolition Control Application DC 00/07/O/TMW (St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church)
requesting approval of the demolition of a single detached dwelling located at 394 Ottawa
Street South, legally described as being Part of Lot 20, John Hoffman's Survey, Registered
Plan 384, be approved.
It is the opinion of this Committee that approval of this application is proper planning for the
City."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz
Seconded by Councillor K. Taylor-Harrison
"That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and
proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times,
be finally passed and numbered 2000-142 by the Clerk."
Carried.
On motion, the meeting adjourned at 4:02 p.m.
