BACKGROUND: Annual inspections/certifications of the Corporations’ facilities fire life safety systems are a legislated requirement. REPORT: The tender was advertised publicly on the City of Kitchener website and on the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System website. Documents were downloaded by twenty-six (26) interested parties and by the closing date of Thursday April 4, 2013, nine (9) tenders had been received. London ON $394,521.42 1 i) - 1 The low bid submitted by Armor Security Automation was for a one year service price, not the three year service price as tendered. The second low bid submitted by Vipond Inc included only the labour portion of the service; the parts portion was absent. The price for Annual Fire Life System Inspection, Maintenance and Repair has decreased 8% from the previous contract. The tender was reviewed by D. Hergott, Manager of Facilities Management, who concurs with the above recommendation. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Theme: Financial Management Strategic Direction: Ensure responsible use of public funds within a supportive policy framework. The City of Kitchener’s purchasing policies and practices ensure openness, fairness and transparency in the procurement of goods and services. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding will be provided from various operating cost centres from City facilities as required. The estimated cost of this tender, net of HST rebates is $ 211,172.87.
