Galloway-Sealock, Vice - Chair Mayor C. Zehr and Councillors S. Davey, P. Singh, D. Glenn-Graham, F. Etherington, Z. Janecki, Y. Fernandes and B. Ioannidis. Staff: J. Majcher, Manager, Strategy and Business Planning D. Livingstone, Committee Administrator CAO-14-001 - COMPASS KITCHENER COMMUNITY SURVEY RESULTS 1. The Committee considered Chief Administrator’s Office report CAO-14-001, dated January 22, 2014 regarding the strategic planning process for the 2015-2018 term of Council, and the related results of the survey executed by Environics Research Group, in coordination with Compass Kitchener. Ms. L. Machjer introduced the Report advising that Compass Kitchener retained Environics Research Group to create and conduct a survey to gather citizen perspectives on the City’s priorities for the future. She highlighted the four stages of the City of Kitchener’s strategic planning process noting that the key activities, deliverables and timelines for each phase of the process is included in Appendix ‘A’- 2015-2018 Strategic Planning Roadmap of Report CAO- 14-001. Mr. Theron Kramer, Compass Kitchener, presented the mandate of the Committee and reviewed the phases of the strategic planning process indicating that the results of the survey will be used to form part of the first phase, entitled “Community Priorities & Strategic A Plan for Directions”. He stated that the planning process will ultimately result in an updated Healthy Kitchener . Mr. Darren Karasiuk, Environics Research Group, presented the results of the survey which was conducted by telephone of 1002 citizens, including 100 cell phone surveys across all Wards, between November 26 and December 10, 2013; as outlined in Appendix ‘B’- Kitchener Community Engagement Research Environics January 2014 of Report CAO-14-001. Mr. Karasiuk responded to questions advising that the type of telephone survey conducted utilizes the most representative sampling possible; and, he agreed to circulate a copy of the data file from the survey which contains data results specific to each Ward. Ms. Machjer responded to questions advising that once the analysis of the survey results has been completed, Compass Kitchener will undertake a series of community engagement activites over a four month period. The Committee expressed appreciation to Compass Kitchener and Environics for the completion of the survey, acknowledging that it is the first stage of the strategic planning process to determine the priorities for the next term of Council.
