FEBRUARY 3, 2014 CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:34 a.m. this date, chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all
members present except Councillors B. Vrbanovic and J. Gazzola.
Notice of this meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant
to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
1. IN- CAMERA MEETING AUTHORIZATION
Moved by Councillor K. Galloway - Sealock
Seconded by Councillor B. loannidis
"That an in- camera meeting of City Council be held this date to consider a land acquisition /
disposition matter and a labour relations matter."
Carried.
2. RECESS AND RE- CONVENE
The meeting then recessed at 11:35 a.m. and re- convened at 1:04 p.m., chaired by Mayor C. Zehr
with all members present except Councillors B. Vrbanovic and J. Gazzola.
3. LEASE AGREEMENT — VICTORIA PARK BOATHOUSE
Moved by Councillor D. Glenn- Graham
Seconded by Councillor B. loannidis
"That pursuant to Section 25.7.14 of Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code,
Council waive the requirement for Notice of Motion with respect to a motion to authorized the
execution of agreements related to the Victoria Park Boathouse."
Carried Unanimously.
Council considered the following recommendation arising from in- camera discussion this date.
Moved by Councillor B. loannidis
Seconded by Councillor D. Glenn- Graham
"That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute a construction and lease agreement
satisfactory to the City Solicitor for the Boathouse at Victoria Park with a term of ten years from
the date of substantial completion of the renovations anticipated therein and in accordance
with the direction received in caucus on February 3, 2014."
A recorded vote was requested.
In Favour: Mayor C. Zehr and Councillors S. Davey,
Y. Fernandes, K. Galloway - Sealock, Z. Janecki, B.
loannidis and D. Glenn- Graham
Contra: Councillors F. Etherington and P. Singh
Absent: Councillors B. Vrbanovic and J. Gazzola
Motion Carried.
4. BY -LAW FOR THREE READINGS
Moved by Councillor K. Galloway - Sealock
Seconded by Councillor S. Davey
"That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by -law to confirm all actions and
proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be
finally passed and numbered 2014 -017 by the Clerk."
Carried.
