Tarling, Director of Legislated Services & City Clerk, 519- 741-2200 ext. 7809 PREPARED BY: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing, 519-741-2200 ext. 7854 WARD(S) INVOLVED: 7 DATE OF REPORT: April 15, 2014 REPORT NO.: FCS-14-074 SUBJECT: REQUEST TO OPERATE HOT DOG CARTS AT 273 STOKE DRIVE AND 112 WEXFORD CRESCENT DURING ANNUAL COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE — MAY 3, 2014 RECOMMENDATION: That the request of Les Halat to operate two hot dog carts at 273 Stoke Drive and 112 Wexford Crescent during the annual Community Garage Sale on May 3, 2014, be approved, provided the necessary licence is obtained including Health and Fire approvals. BACKGROUND: A request has been received from Les Halat for permission to operate two hot dogs during the Community Garage Sale held in the area of Stoke Drive. He has received permission from the homeowners at 273 Stoke Drive and 112 Wexford Crescent to locate his carts on their driveways during the day of the sale which usually operates from 7:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. REPORT: This is a residential area and would not normally permit this type of operation; however, Council has approved Mr. Halat's requests for the past several years. Mr. Halat has received permission from the homeowners at 273 Stoke Drive and 112 Wexford Crescent to locate his carts on their driveways during the day of the sale. In the past Licensing has not received any complaints regarding the operation of hot dog carts during the garage sale.
