SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST— PAT GRIGGS, 364
GLASGOW STREET
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to Pat Griggs for a wedding ceremony to be held at their property at 364 Glasgow
Street, between the hours of 4 P.M. and 11 P.M. on July 12, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. and Mrs. Griggs are organizing their daughter's wedding ceremony at their residence during
the afternoon and evening of Saturday July 12th. There will be some recorded music played
outdoors. As such, they have requested an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of
Kitchener's Municipal Code. A copy of their request is attached.
REPORT:
Mr. and Mrs. Griggs report that the music will be recorded music, which will provide for ease of
volume control if required. Further, they will ensure that the adjacent residential neighbourhood
are advised of the event date in advance.
By-law Enforcement staff indicate that they have no records of noise concerns associated with
the subject address.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in the City's Strategic Plan.

The event organizer will ensure that the adjacent neighbourhood is apprised of the event in
advance of the event date.

Request for Noise Exemption Permit
Shayne Turner,
I submit this letter of request for a Noise Exemption Permit to be issued with regard to a back yard
wedding to be held at our residence 364 Glasgow Street, Kitchener,ON on Saturday,July 12, 2014.
There will be approximately 120 guests at this event, My daughter,her fiance and myself have
personally approached several neighbours regarding this event and have met with complete support.
Any additional neighbours we feel might be affected by any noise, we will approach well in advance of
the wedding. The music will be in recorded form, not live.
