BACKGROUND: The K-W Oktoberfest Inc. is requesting an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City's Municipal Code for a series of events that are being held at 9 clubs, during the 2014 Oktoberfest festivities, running from October 10th to the 18th, 2014. A copy of their request is attached. REPORT: Staff within the By-law Enforcement Division reports that the number of noise complaints relating to these events over the past several years has been minimal at best. Typically, there appears to be a large a degree of acceptance by City residents to these events, given their vast popularity and broad community benefits. The level of cooperation that staff has received from event organizers has been positive. 1 - 1 ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: Approval of a noise exemption request supports the Community Priorities of Quality of Life and Dynamic Downtown, as contained in the City's Strategic Plan. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: N/A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: A level of community engagement is not feasible at this point, given the required nature of the work. A listing of facilities that may be considered would be as follows: Alpine Club, 464 Maple Avenue October 10 through 18 Altes Muenchen Haus (Queensmount Arena) October 10 to 13, 16 to 18 Bingemans, 425 Bingeman Centre Dr. October 10 through 18 Concordia Club, 429 Ottawa St. October 10 through 18 Karlsberghaus (The Aud Complex) October 10 through 18 Oktoberfest Haus (Tcnit @ Frederick & King) October 10 through 18 OUTDOOR EVENT Schwaben Club, 1668 King Street October 10 to 12, 16 to 18 Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort, 396 Morrison Rd.
