BACKGROUND: Mr. Bill Moorehouse is planning to hold a family party at his property at 61 Filbert Street on August 16th. The event will include some outdoor music and entertainers. As such, he is requesting an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City's Municipal Code. REPORT: Mr. Moorehouse advises that this will be the 2nd year that he has arranged such an event. A similar event was held at the subject property two years ago. At that time, a noise complaint was registered and staff advise that the event organizers were very cooperative in dealing with the concern. In light of that past occurrence, Mr. Moorehouse wishes to pursue a formal exemption and is agreeing to reduce the time limit of the event to 8PM. In addition, he will be will be notifying the adjacent neighbours in advance of the event and will also provide information for an on-site contact person on the day of the event. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: This noise exemption supports the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as contained in the City's Strategic Plan. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: N/A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: The event organizers will be advising his adjacent neighbours in advance of the event.
