SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST— STANLEY PARK COMMUNITY
ASSOCIATION
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code
be granted to the Stanley Park Community Association for an outdoor movie
night in Tecumseh Park, on August 23, 2014, between the hours of 7:30 PM and
11 PM.
BACKGROUND:
The Stanley Park Community Association is planning an outdoor movie night in
Tecumseh Park as part of their celebratory events relating to their significant donations
to upgrade parks within the community. The event in Tecumseh Park will include an
outdoor movie showing. As such, they are requesting an exemption from Chapter 450
(Noise) of the City's Municipal Code.
REPORT:

concerns arising from it. Similar movie nights held in other parks typically have not
resulted in concerns from the affected neighbourhoods.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in the City's Strategic Plan.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
N/A
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
The event organizers will be advertising the event throughout the community in advance
of the event.
