Review and Approval of Minutes The minutes from October 1, 2014 were approved by Compass Kitchener. Moved by Chris, second by Tristan. Carried 2. Follow -up to minutes ■ none at this time. Updates from Sub Committees • Civics 101: Nov 17 will be the next Youth Forum, Theron will be attending as a representative of Compass Kitchener. Krishna will continue to participate on the sub committee, however may not be on the full committee. • Strategic Plan: a strategy session as been set for Council next week and will consider what actions Council would like to take in the 2015 business plan. Laurie provided some context around this being an `inbetween' year and how next year council will ratify the full new strategic plan, adding additional information as to why these decisions have been made. • Voter Turnout: With the recent election, there is value for this committee to carry on. Theron encouraged the next committee to consider if this could be expanded in the future. His hope is that Compass Kitchener will return to council to confirm they are still on board with the five items previously approved. If anyone is interested in continuing to work with a committee focused on this but at a more broad level, please connect with Theron as his work will continue with this. • Report Card: This sub committee will need to remain active through the next term as well. 4. Community Engagement Policy • Laurie would like to get input from Compass Kitchener on this policy moving forward and communicating this with the public. • Holly reminded the group of the four pillar document initially provided when Community Engagement was discussed with Compass Kitchener. It was very beneficial for providing a clear understanding of the various levels of engagement. This document could be made even better if it was designed in a way that would be easy for the public to understand. • Theron suggested a review of the info provided by the Social Planning Council to Compass Kitchener in the past. Engagement should be referred to as ongoing, rather than living in one pillar. Further, he suggested a policy could also consider at what point we engage, and how it is decided for projects that we will /will not engage. ■ The committee agreed this policy should set a high standard and be achievable. ■ Draft policy to return to Compass Kitchener prior to presentation to Council. 5. Other Business • Committee members were thanked again for the incredible participation in the committee. Without great volunteers, we could not accomplish near what is achieved at the Compass Kitchener table. A small gift was provided to those members who are not returning to the committee. • Congratulations to Sarah Marsh, new Ward 10 Councillor. The committee shared various good news stories and recent achievements. • Theron thanked staff for their continued effort and dedication to the work that Compass Kitchener does. Next regular meeting will take place in January with new Compass Kitchener Committee Location: Conestoga Room Attendance: Corrpass Kitchener Attendance 13- 14.xiE
