BACKGROUND: Mansion Street is a local road with residential land use on either side of the right-of-way which terminates at the MTO right-of-way at Highway 85. In response to a request, on- street parking regulations will have to be reviewed. REPORT: Currently, on-street parking is permitted on the west side of Mansion Street between Edna Street and the north limit for a maximum period of three consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-law No. 2007-138. Transportation Services has received a request to review the existing parking regulations on Mansion Street. The request cited concerns regarding overly restrictive parking regulations being problematic for residents and visitors and requested that parking be permitted where possible. Residents in the immediate area were notified of this proposed parking regulation change in November 2014. No objections to the proposal were received. 3 - 1 ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: This initiative falls under the Community Priority of Quality of Life. "Work with partners, including all orders of government, to create a culture of safety in our community." By working with the neighbourhood, on-street parking concerns have been addressed. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for sign installations for the roadway is $400 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM — This report has been posted to the City's website with the agenda in advance of the council / committee meeting. CONSULT - Residents were advised regarding this proposed parking regulation change through a mail out sent in November 2014. No responses were received.
