FEBRUARY 2, 2015 CITY OF KITCHENER
The Planning and Strategic Initiatives Committee met this date, commencing at 6:30 p.m.
Present: Councillor P. Singh, Chair
Mayor B. Vrbanovic and Councillors S. Davey, Y. Fernandes, K. Galloway-Sealock, J.
Gazzola, B. Ioannidis, Z. Janecki, F. Etherington, S. Marsh and D. Schnider.

Councillor P. Singh read aloud the following statement:
“This is a formal public meeting to consider applications under the Planning Act. If a person or
public body does not make oral or written submissions to the City of Kitchener before the
proposed applications are considered, the person or public body may not be entitled to appeal
the decision to the Ontario Municipal Board and may not be added as a party to a hearing of
an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board.”
CSD-15-005 - ZONE CHANGE APPLICATION - ZC14/08/M/KA

- 5 MICHAEL STREET, 1397036 ONTARIO LTD.
The Committee considered Community Services Department report CSD-15-005, dated
December 19, 2014 recommending approval of Zone Change Application ZC14/08/M/KA, to
modify the zoning of 5 Michael Street to permit 100% office use in the existing building. Ms. K.
Andrel presented the Report, advising that the zone change provides for appropriate adaptive
reuse of a designated heritage building and would be compatible with the existing
neighbourhood.
Ms. Kendra Murphy, GSP Group Inc. was in attendance and addressed the Committee in
support of the subject Zone Change Application.
On motion by Councillor F. Etherington -
it was resolved:
“That Zone Change Application ZC14/08/M/KA for 1397036 Ontario Ltd. for the purpose
of changing the zoning of 5 Michael Street from Neighbourhood Institutional Zone (I-2)
with Special Use Provision 281U to Neighbourhood Institutional Zone (I-2) with
amended Special Use Provision 281U, be approved in the form outlined in the
‘Proposed By-law’ dated December 18, 2014 attached as Appendix ‘A’ to Community
Services Department report CSD-15-005.”
