Date: February 4, 2015
To: Environmental Committee Members
From: Community Environmental Improvement Grant Sub-committee
Subject: 2014 Community Environmental Improvement Grants (CEIG)
Recipient Update and Reconsideration
The City has been notified that The Mansion Greens Community Garden – Rain Water
Infiltration Project who was awarded a 2014 Community Environmental Improvement Grant in
the amount of $1,500.00 will not be able to meet the conditions of the grant. They have not been
able to raise the additional $1,500 needed to complete this project and so will not be utilizing the
money allotted to them.
The subcommittee was notified via email and provided the following options to consider.
Option 1 – the remaining $1500.00 be offered to the next highest scoring applicant - Forest
Heights C.I
Option 1a – require proof of funding to complete the project (a condition that is
consistent with what has been requested of others)
Option 1b – provide the grant without conditions
Option 2 – the remaining $1,500.00 be divided equally ($750.00 each) between Forest Heights
C.I and St. Dominic Savio Catholic Elementary School as they are somewhat similar proposals
and close in scoring
Option 3 – the remaining $1,500.00 be held over and used next year
Option 4 - other
Upon review of the options, the subcommittee preferred Option 3, and is therefore
recommending the Environmental Committee support the following motion:
That one thousand and five hundred dollars ($1,500) be returned to theCommunity
Environmental Improvement Grant account and be prorated toward, and added to, the
2015 CEIG available funds.
