REPORT NO.: CSD-15-045
SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST—49 WAKE ROBIN DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to Fred Fraser, for an annual Lobster Boil and B.B.Q at 49 Wake Robin Dr
between the hours of 3PM and 11 PM on June 6, 2015.
BACKGROUND:
Mr. Fraser is organizing an annual Lobster Boil and B.B.Q which is taking place on June 6,
2015. The event will take place outside including live music. Thus he is requesting an
exemption from the City's Noise By-law (Chapter 450).
REPORT:
This is the 8th year that Mr. Fraser will be hosting a Lobster Boil and B.B.Q Pot Luck event in his
back yard. The pot luck style event is held for his neighbours and some friends and will include
a live band playing until 11 pm. Mr. Fraser will be delivering flyers to homes in the
neighbourhood and will post flyers on the community mailbox.
The By-Law Enforcement office received one complaint about loud music in 2014. Staff
responded and received cooperation from the event organizer.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in the City's Strategic Plan.
