REPORT NO.: CSD-15-028
SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST—2255 KINGSWAY DRIVE
KITCHENER HARLEY-DAVIDSON
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to Kitchener Harley-Davidson at 2255 Kingsway Drive between the hours of
12PM and 5PM on August 15, 2015.
BACKGROUND:
Kitchener Harley-Davidson will be hosting their annual charity fundraising Summer Block Party
event on August 15, 2015. The event will be taking place outdoors and will include live music.
Thus they are requesting an exemption from the City's Noise By-law (Chapter 450).
REPORT:
This fundraising event has taken place over the past several years at the Kitchener Harley-
Davidson dealership located on Kingsway Drive. The event will include live music
performances between the hours of 12PM and 5PM. All of the proceeds raised will be donated
to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kitchener Harley-Davidson will be delivering event
notices and invitations throughout the neighbourhood.
The By-Law Enforcement office received one complaint about loud music in 2014. Staff
responded and received cooperation from the event organizer. The enforcement office also
received complaints about vehicles parking in non-permitted areas during last year's event.
Event organizers will continue make efforts to encourage their guests to park in permitted areas
and By Law Enforcement staff will increase patrols in the area during the event.
