SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST - KITCHENER PORTUGUESE
CLUB — 1548 FISCHER HALLMAN ROAD
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code
be granted to the Kitchener Portuguese Club at 1548 Fischer Hallman Road for
their annual Lady of Fatima Festival to be held on Saturday September 5 and
Sunday September 6, 2015, between the hours of 12 noon and 11 PM.
BACKGROUND:
The Kitchener Portuguese Club is holding their 43rd Annual Lady of Fatima Festival at
their location at 1548 Fischer Hallman Road on Saturday September 5th and Sunday
September 6t". The festival events will include indoor as well as outdoor events. As
such, the Club is requesting an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) for the 2 day
event.
REPORT:
The Lady of Fatima Festival is an annual event held at the club location. While City
staff do have record of noise complaints received during the festival several years ago,
there is no indication of complaints received in recent years. Regardless, staff have
found the organizers of this event to be cooperative when dealing with any previous
concern.

This request supports the Community Priority Quality of Life, as contained in the City's Strategic
Plan.
