HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-09-01 HERITAGE KITCHENER MINUTES SEPTEMBER 1. 2015 CITY OF KITCHENER The Heritage Kitchener Committee met this date, commencing at 4:04 p.m. Present: Ms. B. Glenn-Graham, Chair Councillor J. Gazzola, Messrs. S. Burrows, P. Ciuciura, S. Miladinovic, B. Page, S. Thomson and M. Timmerman and Ms. S. Halapija. Staff: S. Parks, Heritage Planner D. Saunderson, Committee Administrator 1. CSD-15-074 - HERITAGE PERMIT APPLICATION HPA 2015-V-014 - 466 QUEEN STREET SOUTH - DEMOLISH ADDITION AND CONSTRUCT NEW ADDITION The Committee considered Community Services Department report CSD-15-074, dated July 31, 2015 recommending approval of Heritage Application HPA 2015-V-014 to permit the demolition and replacement of an addition at the property municipally addressed as 466 Queen Street South. Ms. S. Parks presented the report and responded to questions from the Committee. Mr. James Douglas, IBI Group, attended on behalf of property owner in support of the subject application and responded to questions from the Committee. On motion by Mr. S. Miladinovic- it was resolved: "That pursuant to Section 42 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit Application HPA-2015-V-014 be approved to permit the demolition of an addition and construction of a replacement addition, at the property municipally addressed as 466 Queen Street South, in accordance with the supporting information submitted with the application, as outlined in Community Services Department report CSD-15-074, and subject to the following condition: i) that the final building permit drawings be reviewed and heritage clearance provided by heritage planning staff prior to the issuance of a building permit." 2. CSD-15-075 - HERITAGE PERMIT APPLICATION HPA 2015-V-015 - 300 JOSEPH SCHOERG CRESCENT - CONSTRUCT A CEDAR FENCE The Committee considered Community Services Department report CSD-15-075, dated July 31, 2015 recommending approval of Heritage Application HPA 2015-V-074 to permit the construction of a cedar fence at the property municipally addressed as 300 Joseph Schoerg Crescent. Ms. S. Parks presented the report and responded to questions from the Committee. Ms. Beth Hanson, property owner, was in attendance in support of the application and responded to questions from the Committee. On motion by Mr. B. Page- it was resolved: "That pursuant to Section 42 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit Application HPA-2015-IV-015 be approved to permit the construction of a cedar fence, at the property municipally addressed as 300 Joseph Schoerg Crescent, in accordance with the supporting information submitted with the application, as outlined in Community Services Department report CSD-15-075." 3. HERITAGE BEST PRACTICES UPDATE The Committee was in receipt of a memorandum entitled "Heritage Best Practices - Update", dated August 17, 2015, summarizing the status of the best practices that were proposed at the June Committee meeting. The Committee was also in receipt this date of email correspondence, dated September 1, 2015 from the Architectural Conservatory Ontario - North Waterloo Region noting their interest in the item.
