Tandem Rear Axle Conventional Cab and Chassis ____________________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATION: That Tender T15-074 Snow and Ice Removal Equipment - Three (3) 8.8 Cubic Metre (11.5 Cubic Yard) Side Tilt Dump Body, Two-Way Front Plow and High Levelling Cable Wing to be Mounted on Three (3) 29,937 kg (66,000 lb) G.V.W. Tandem Rear Axle Conventional Cab and Chassis, be awarded to Viking Cives Ltd., Mount Forest, Ontario, at their tendered price of $326,610., plus H.S.T. of $42,459.30, for a total of $369,069.30. BACKGROUND: These will replace three (3) side tilt dump body, two-way front plow and high levelling cable wing units (units 511, 201303 and 201302 in INS – Operations), as approved for replacement in the 2015 Annual Fleet Equipment Review. These units will be used for salting/sanding roads, snow loading and for summer sidewalk and asphalt repair. Unit 511 is a 2007 model year and is eight (8) years old and required an engine replacement. During evaluation of the proposed repair costs, it was determined that the repair would not be cost effective and the unrepaired unit was sold at auction. Units 201302 and 201303 are fourteen (14) years old. All units have a ten (10) year lifecycle. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 1. i. - 1 REPORT: This Tender was advertised publicly on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Documents were downloaded by nine (9) interested parties and by the closing date of Thursday September 10, 2015, one (1) tender had been received. The Tender was reviewed by M. Born, Manager of Fleet, who concurs with the above recommendation. The following tender was received: Bid Price Viking Cives Ltd. Mount Forest ON $369,069.30 * ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city’s strategic vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The net cost for this tender (A), is fair and reasonable for a purchase of this scope and the upset limit is within the budget allowance (B) provided within the budget. Funding for this equipment is included within the approved capital budget. The estimated surplus (D) will remain within the Equipment Reserve Fund to fund future equipment purchases.
