BACKGROUND: This is a Co-operative tender issued by the City of Guelph (lead agency) on behalf of the Guelph Co-operative Purchasing Group (GCPG) and the Co-operative Purchasing Group of Waterloo Region (CPGWR). Participating agencies include: City of Cambridge, City of Guelph, Township of Guelph Eramosa, City of Kitchener, Township of North Dumfries, City of Waterloo, Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Township of Wellesley, City of Brantford, County Brant - Mount Vernon, County Brant – Paris, County Brant – Mount Pleasant, County Brant – South Dumfries, County of Wellington, Township of Wilmot, Township of Woolwich, Town of Erin, Ridgetown College, University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, Centre Wellington – Belwood and Centre Wellington – Fergus This tender is based on fixed unit prices for the 2015 and 2016 winter season. Rate increases for the 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons, will be based on the Consumers Price Index as published on the Statistics Canada website. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 1.iii. - 1 The City of Kitchener’s average annual spend over the past four (4) years was $1,023,131.14. The actual spend will depend on the level of activity throughout the term of the contract. REPORT: Tenders were advertised publicly on the City of Guelph website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Documents were downloaded by seven (7) interested parties and by the closing date of Wednesday May 6, 2015, three (3) tenders had been received. The following tenders were received: Compass Minerals Canada Corp. Mississauga ON * K+S Windsor Salt Ltd Mississauga ON Cargill Deicing Technology Oshawa ON The unit price for highway coarse salt has increased .05% from the previous 2014/2015 season contract. The tender was reviewed by C. Rendell, Purchasing Agent (City of Guelph) and L. Stecho, Supervisor of Purchasing (City of Kitchener) who concur with the above recommendation. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city’s strategic vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funding will be provided from various operating accounts. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM – This report has been posted to the City’s website with the agenda in advance of the council / committee meeting.
